- North Carolina fireworks law: anything that explodes or flies is illegal – firecrackers, bottle rockets, roman candles, mortars
- Legal consumer fireworks only: ground-based fountains, sparklers (Class 1.4G only)
- Age law update (2025): minimum age to purchase or use fireworks is now 18 Penalties: Class 2 misdemeanor, up to $500 fine, up to six months jail if damage occurs
- Safe discharge zones: paved open areas away from dry vegetation, trees, structures
- Never use fireworks under the influence of alcohol Keep water source, rake, or shovel nearby – monitor area for hours after
- Open burning reminder: Raleigh prohibits all trash and debris burning
- Raleigh ordinance: permitted fires cannot exceed three feet high or two feet wide
