The Research Committee of the Raleigh Historic Development Commission will conduct a public meeting on Wednesday, October 7 at 8:30 a.m. in conference room 809 of One Exchange Plaza, Raleigh, NC 27601.

2026 Inquiry Letters for RHL
The Committee will review the Places Worthy of Preservation list and recently completed reports to determine a focus area for the next letters of interest mailing. If the Committee agrees that the properties should be sent landmark inquiry letters, the letters will be prepared and signed at the next meeting.

Biltmore Hills National Register Celebration Planning

One of the items listed on the RHDC’s 2026 Work Plan is to plan and host a celebration for the Biltmore Hills neighborhood when it is placed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Biltmore Hills National Register nomination is scheduled to be reviewed at the National Register Advisory Committee in October. Assuming a positive review, National Register designation should be final in Spring 2027.

The committee will begin researching the individuals recognized in the neighborhood’s street names.
