City of Raleigh Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System - Het Patel, AICP - Transit Planning Supervisor, City of Raleigh Transportation Department will update us on how the BRT system is progressing as each of the four different spokes (routes) of the program move through planning and design to construction. DON'T MISS THIS! We plan to broadcast the meeting on Facebook if you would prefer to watch it and not participate. Our next meeting is scheduled for August 14th. Current plans are to invite City Staff to tell us about programs to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety. In addition, we are asking for information on how streets can be made safer. The purpose of the Task Force is to bring together a diverse group of community stakeholders to carry out a number of tasks including, but not limited to the following: Understanding and assessing the current elements of the homeless service system in Wake County Identifying and prioritizing emerging issues related to homelessness in our community (e.g., homeless encampments and enforcement) Making recommendations to local government units and homeless service providers to improve the homeless service system Providing the community with information about available resources that exist within the homeless service system The work of the Task Force is intended to be time-limited in nature with the engagement anticipated to be six to nine months in duration. Meetings of the Task Force will occur once per month from 10am to 12noon and preliminary meeting dates, times and locations have been identified and are listed below. Meetings are open to the public. Would you like to learn what it takes to be a member of the Raleigh Fire Department (RFD)? If the answer is YES, then join us for our upcoming information sessions on Thursday, July 13. During the session, you will interact with members of the department. We will share and discuss with you: the Fire Academy; what the hiring process entails; what it’s like to be a member of the Raleigh Fire; and, how to prepare for a career in the fire service. The session is from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Keeter Training Center (105 Keeter Center Drive, Raleigh, NC 27601). There will also be a virtual option offered to those who sign up and cannot attend in person, via Teams. Register online
