Hi Hillsborough-Wade CAC neighbors, Our board has decided to cancel the December Hillsborough-Wade CAC meeting at the Powell Drive Park facility. Instead some of us board members are going to meet for dinner at The Players Retreat on Tuesday, December 12th at 7:00 PM. If you would like to join us, please let me know (contact info below) so we can determine how big a table we may need. It’s a long story about setting the meeting agenda and coordinating people’s schedules. Our CAC board discussed various options, from our typical agenda about city-related topics to just a social event. We decided to move one of our main agenda items to our January meeting. Concerns were expressed that if we didn’t have an interesting agenda, we weren’t going to have a decent turnout during this busy time of year. By having dinner at the PR we won’t have to work on the logistics of providing food and drinks, plus setting up and cleaning up at Powell Drive. Joint Raleigh/Wake Homelessness Task Force

The purpose of the Task Force is to bring together a diverse group of community stakeholders to carry out a number of tasks including, but not limited to the following: Understanding and assessing the current elements of the homeless service system in Wake County Identifying and prioritizing emerging issues related to homelessness in our community (e.g., homeless encampments and enforcement) Making recommendations to local government units and homeless service providers to improve the homeless service system Providing the community with information about available resources that exist within the homeless service system The work of the Task Force is intended to be time-limited in nature with the engagement anticipated to be six to nine months in duration.  Meetings of the Task Force will occur once per month from 10am to 12noon and preliminary meeting dates, times and locations have been identified and are listed below.
