Next Meeting - November 13th at 7PM   Join us Monday night, November 13th at 7PM for our regularly scheduled Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Meeting we will be meeting on Zoom. Our District has two new District Commanders. Hopefully, they can join us. Our November meeting (with DDNA invited) will Concentrate on Municipal Service Districts - Municipal Service Districts (MSD) currently exist in Downtown Raleigh and the Hillsborough Street area. Their purpose is to support business activity and community in an area. The Blue Ridge Corridor Alliance will be making a presentation for our meeting regarding their request of Raleigh City Council to consider creating a Municipal Service District for the West Raleigh Community. A similar conversation has been made that will pertain to the South Saunders/ Lake Wheeler Road area. IKE Digital Kiosk Ribbon Cutting

Raleigh Transportation is coordinating with IKE Smart Cities, LLC (IKE) and Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) on the deployment of smart kiosks in multiple locations within the downtown area. A ribbon cutting ceremony to highlight this new interactive, wayfinding system for Downtown Raleigh will be held Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at 239 Fayetteville Street. Speakers include Jibran Shermohammed (IKE Smart Cities), Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin (City of Raleigh), and Bill King (Downtown Raleigh Alliance). The event will feature a kiosk demo and a short reception with food and drinks. Currently, we have 6 sites that are live and open for use. In a sprawling manor in the town of Mayflower Falls, the Dread family is hosting their yearly Thanksgiving dinner for their neighbors. The Dreads plan to serve delectable food catered from none other than Dread Steakhouse. To pass the time until the feast is ready, the guests will catch up on the latest neighborhood gossip and play hilarious party games. Alas, the last year has been filled with treachery, scandal, and deceit. Many of the neighbors may not get along. The Dreads hope everyone can exist in harmony – at least until dessert hits the table. Help us solve the murder! Participants will be assigned a part to play and will be provided with character instructions. Are you the victim or the prey? Light snacks will be provided. Pre-registration is required by Nov. 7. The Text Change Committee is a subcommittee where changes to the zoning code, known as the Unified Development Ordinance, are discussed. This subcommittee reviews the language of any potential code change. The committee typically meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Urban Design Center, Room 108, and sometimes at One Exchange Plaza Room 809.
