Raleigh Neighborhood Exchange

The City hosts the Raleigh Neighborhood Exchange (RNEX) each year in honor of Neighborhoods Month. The event celebrates Raleigh's amazing neighborhoods and brings our neighbors together. This year's theme is "Cultivating Community Culture" and we are excited to discover the communal gifts and strengths that exist in our neighborhoods! The community event will be held at Carolina Pines Community Center on Friday, September 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Stop by to join the free event - no registration required. Join us to enjoy some of the following activities: Learn About City Programs: Meet staff from City of Raleigh departments and learn about capacity-building and neighborhood programming. Storytelling: Hear from spoken word artist Donna Washington Acrobatics: Be amazed by the Kenya Safari Acrobats Music: Enjoy samba reggae music from Batala Durham Kids Art Lab: Create cool art with one of Raleigh’s amazing artists, Shannon Newby  Food Trucks: Indulge in some yummy cuisine! The first 250 people to arrive will get a ticket for free food. Presented by 1st Lady Management and SEEK Raleigh, Girls! Girls? Girls. will make its North Carolina debut on Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September 17, at the North Carolina Museum of Art SECU Auditorium. Girls! Girls? Girls. is a one-woman play and short documentary film written by award-winning performer, writer, and Broadway producer, Marjuan Canady. This hysterical satire explores the past, present, and funny yet frightening future of the global Black woman. Canady portrays ten characters who all have their unique spin on the Black female image. In the short film, Canady and her comrades take their wit to the streets, to schools, and throughout the entertainment industry to gain perspective on the current state of Black womanhood. Directly following the performance and screening, Canady will be joined on stage by local artists and storytellers for a post-show talkback.
