To bring this belief to life, Raleigh Parks has teamed up with the Raleigh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., to present a Health and Wellness Day. This event is about inspiring individuals of every age and background to focus on their well-being. Come out and join us as we work to make wellness a top priority in our community! Get in the driver's seat with a free hands-on experience with vehicles of all kinds. This is a fun, interactive, family-friendly event that allows children and adults to see, touch, and safely explore their favorite trucks and heavy machinery, as well as meet the personnel who protect, serve, and build the Raleigh community. We will feature a 'No Horn Hour' from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. for guests with sensitive hearing. Little ones with sensitivities to loud noises are encouraged to visit during this time to experience everything in a comfortable environment. Ages: 0-12 Cost: Free

The Tarboro Road Community Center is excited to host a monthly Pop-up Roller Skating session! Join us on Sunday, April 27 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for an afternoon of fun with a live DJ spinning the best old-school R&B, hip-hop, and funky beats for a perfect rhythm skate experience. This event is open to those 18 years and older, and remember, you’ll need to bring your own skates! Stop by the Center to register at the front desk, and enjoy a welcoming space for skaters of all skill levels—whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced skater. We’re building a safe, inclusive roller skating community where everyone can have fun and help foster a vibrant, healthy roller skating culture here in the Triangle! Come have some fun and learn more about a new city-supported public art project coming soon to Lake Lynn. A Raleigh-based artist team will share ideas that have emerged from their community engagement efforts over the last several months. Your feedback and input will help inform the final design! In partnership with the City of Raleigh Museum and as part of Downtown Raleigh Alliance’s First Friday events for May, we’re hosting a one-night preview of select items from the Archive’s collection, ahead of a bigger project on Raleigh’s skate history. Starting at 7 p.m.,  we’ll hear the stories behind some of the new and old photos from photographers Pete Thompson, Chris Facey, and Chris Seward.  Due to limited space, this will be a free but ticketed event. Join Let’s Get Social Raleigh and Raleigh Parks for the Third Annual Adult Recess Festival at Fletcher Park! Have a great time making new friends, welcoming newcomers to Raleigh, and supporting local, small Black-owned businesses! We know how hard adulting is, and we've made it easy to relieve that stress, even if for a few hours. Play outdoor games like dodgeball and tug-o-war or relax and play a board game or a round of trivia. Adult Recess has something for everyone! This event is free and open to the public.
