The Dix Park Community Committee is an advisory committee designed to represent the diversity of the community and bring a broad range of experiences and expertise to the Dorothea Dix Park project. This committee provides guidance and recommendation to the Dix Park Leadership Committee on matters related to park development, programming, and engagement. The Dix Park Community Committee meeting will be held in-person at the Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel at Dix Park, located at 1030 Richardson Drive, Raleigh NC 27603. Join us in celebrating the poets of Lake Johnson Park! This poetry reading honors ten local poets whose poems will be featured on our new interpretive poetry trail. The poets were chosen for their talent and unique ability to capture the spirit of the Lake Johnson community and the natural beauty found throughout the park. Enjoy listening to each writer read their poems out loud. Following the reading, there will be light refreshments and time to socialize. Advance registration is required. Celebrate Earth Day at Kiwanis Park as we learn about seeds through fun crafts, tasty treats, and planting! Ages 3-5 yrs. Cost: $8

Celebrate Earth Day at Mordecai Historic Park and get your herb, vegetable, and flower gardens started for the season! Heirloom varieties of plants will be on sale for great prices. All plants are started from seed by the Mordecai Historic Park gardeners. Plants will include tomatoes, peppers, squash, herbs, and much more. Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and provide more information about the garden and grounds at Mordecai Historic Park! The sale will take place both on April 26 and 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mordecai Visitor Center. For questions or more information, please call 919-996-4364.
