The Raleigh Police Department is excited to host “National Coffee with a Cop” day on Oct. 1, providing an opportunity for community members to connect with their local police officers in a relaxed and friendly environment. This event will take place at various locations throughout the city, where people will have the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee while discussing safety, community concerns, and building positive relationships with officers. Resident input is critical in creating a representative City budget. There will be six opportunities for in-person engagement, in addition to a virtual session. Virtual Session The virtual listening session will be held via Zoom. Residents who choose the virtual session must pre-register and will receive the Zoom link the day before the session. Please come out to Moore Square in downtown Raleigh on Monday, October 13 at 12:15 pm for a ceremonial planting of an oak tree, the first of 250 trees to be planted in Raleigh in celebration of our nation's 250th birthday. This wonderful campaign to plant 250 trees is being organized by Rotary Club of Raleigh. They are raising funds and partnering with the City of Raleigh and other organizations to plant the trees over the next year. Our SW area is part of three different Raleigh Police Districts. Popular subjects are vandalism and Porch Pirates. Carolina Pines Ave Improvement Project - Extending from Lake Wheeler Rd. to South Saunders St. Construction has started with alternating single lane traffic much of the day.
