Our December meeting Continues the Quarterly Open Forum Format - Please feel free to use this time to bring your comments, concerns, and subjects of interest to the group. We want to hear from you and learn more about what you believe should be taking place in our neighborhood. Changes in Community Group Meetings - Comments and updates from our community leaders and residents. We plan to broadcast the meeting on Facebook if you would prefer to watch it and not participate. Our next meeting is scheduled for January 8th, 2024. Hopefully, we will have some encouraging information about returning to our traditional home at Carolina Pines Community Center in the new year. The City plans to install a sidewalk on east side of Valley Drive from the existing sidewalk beyond Hatherleigh Court to Lynn Road. We are having a drop-in style meeting on December 12, from 5:30-7 p.m., at the Optimist Community Center. The meeting is a great opportunity for residents to see the plans and ask questions about the project. City staff will be on hand to talk with residents about the project, but no formal presentation will be made.

The purpose of the Task Force is to bring together a diverse group of community stakeholders to carry out a number of tasks including, but not limited to the following: Understanding and assessing the current elements of the homeless service system in Wake County Identifying and prioritizing emerging issues related to homelessness in our community (e.g., homeless encampments and enforcement) Making recommendations to local government units and homeless service providers to improve the homeless service system Providing the community with information about available resources that exist within the homeless service system The work of the Task Force is intended to be time-limited in nature with the engagement anticipated to be six to nine months in duration.
