The Raleigh Police Department believes the foundation for a safer community is knowing your neighbors and surroundings. National Night Out is an effort to strengthen the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement. It also promotes neighborhood camaraderie to create a more caring place to live. The event, always on the first Tuesday in August, has been held annually nationwide since 1984. The Raleigh Police Department has supported National Night Out for more than 30 years. This year National Night Out will be observed on Aug. 1. In observance of National Night Out, RPD asks you to leave your porch light on from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The porch light symbolizes alertness and awareness; it makes your neighbors and friends feel welcome. RPD also asks you to get to know your neighbors better. If you want a community officer to stop by your National Night event, please email us at Nationalnightout@raleighnc.gov Monday, July 17. Check back here for a list of National Night Out events in your area! |

Good afternoon, friends, You may have seen in the news on WRAL that the city of Raleigh's Go-Raleigh Access (ADA paratransportation for persons with disabilities) has implemented a new software program which has fundamentally changed the nature of this service in our city. On August 15, 2023, many persons who use this service appeared before city council during public comment to voice their views, concerns and frustration. While council expressed concerns and had questions of transit staff, we feel it necessary to hold another meeting to continue to impress upon city council the urgency of this matter. Therefore, I do request that you come to this meeting to lend your support in this effort. Some of you may have persons with disabiliites in your family who may use this service or may in the future have need of it. See the information below. thanks for your consideration and support. Carolina friends, We were very successful in having our transportation concerns heard at the August 15, 2023 meeting of the Raleigh City Council. Both the council and the staff of the Go Raleigh/Art program have a deeper understanding of our frustrations and how we have been so greatly adversely impacted with […]

Residents and guests, The Midtown CAC meeting on August 28 will follow the hybrid format that we have been using for the past few months. The in person meeting will continue to be at Eastgate Park community center and the virtual presentation will utilize a Zoom link. Last month, we had a discussion about a proposed town house development on Dartmouth Road. If you missed it, the video link of the meeting is contained in the previous meeting minutes, posted on our Facebook page and YouTube for reference. This month, we will have a followup discussion on Missing Middle, which is the basis of the town house proposal in Farrior Hills. In addition, we will hear a City presentation on the Northern Corridor, which will provide rapid transit from downtown to the Midtown area. The routing is still under discussion. I encourage all interested residents to attend. Appended is the agenda for the meeting and the combined minutes / presentations for the previous July MCAC meeting. Please review the minutes before the August meeting. If there are any advance comments on the minutes, please send them to my attention at your earliest convenience. The Zoom connection will be the same as […] |
