Join us at Moore Square for a free performance of Street Requiem with the North Carolina Master Chorale. The Chorale and Youth Choir combine forces to sing "Street Requiem", a work written by Australian composer Kathleen McGuire in collaboration with Andy Payne and Jonathon Welch, in order to bring attention to those who suffer from housing insecurity. The composers set English, African, and Persian texts in multiple musical styles, including contemporary, gospel, and indigenous. This moving and uplifting work invites both performers and listeners to contemplate and address this significant social issue together as a community. Date: Thursday, May 8, 2025 Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m. At first glance, the exhibition Harmonic Chaos is a multicolored and playful body of works with its bright hues and whimsical collages. But don't dismiss these two artists' sophisticated use of the mediums and technical accomplishments simply because of their dazzling use of color, texture, and shape. Both Thorn and Thornton demonstrate the highest artistic merit in the way they work with their chosen materials. They embody the commitment to their craft and push the boundaries of traditional working methods. Learn more about the exhibition |

Free outdoor Shakespeare comes to Raleigh! The “green-ey’d monster” rears its ugly head in William Shakespeare’s classic tale of jealousy, love, and prejudice. Noble Moorish general Othello, secretly married to his beloved Desdemona, chooses his friend Cassio for a promotion rather than his trusted but duplicitous ensign, Iago. Enraged, Iago weaves a complex scheme that spirals into a frenzy of suspicion, ultimately leading to tragic acts of violence and irreversible loss. This gripping 90-minute production preserves the classic language and core story of the full play, making it perfect for an afternoon of culture and entertainment for couples and busy families. Tickets are free but reservations are recommended. Location: Fred Fletcher Park Performance Times: 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Ages: All Cost: Tickets are free but reservations are recommended. Join us at Sertoma Arts Center on Saturday, May 17th, 1 p.m. for an Artist Talk with exhibiting artist, Sampada Kodagali Agarwal. Meet the artist, learn about her work and creative processes, and enjoy an afternoon at the Sertoma Arts Center. Reception to follow. About the Exhibit For this exhibition, Sampada has created artworks influenced by Celtic symbols, embellished with two of the traditional floor art styles from India - thus finding the same meaning in a different format – same semantics, different syntax. Adding the 3-D element borrowed from the Celtic knot work to the Kolam and Mandana styles brought in a confluence across geographies and cultures that excited her. This integration/juxtaposition of art styles from different continents offers a different perspective to art and underlines our shared notions of creativity. She hopes to connect with the community through these explorations and learn what the audience thinks of "Lines That Connect" and if it inspires new ideas and perspectives. Learn more about the Exhibition at Sertoma Arts Center. Event Details Date: Saturday, May 17; 1 p.m. Location: Sertoma Arts Center, 1400 Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27612 Cost: Free and open to public To purchase artwork, contact Sertoma Arts Center for details.
