If your business is not certified, please join the City of Raleigh's MWBE Program, NC DOA/HUB Office, and the NC DOT/DBE Office to learn the requirements and process to apply for certification. Benefits of Certification as HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) & DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise): Increased exposure to business and procurement opportunities Addition of your business to the online directory Receive bid notices from all government organizations Provides opportunities for business development And, more… Who should apply? Spanish Small Business Workshop
Walnut Creek Wetland Center 950 Peterson St, Raleigh, NCThe City of Raleigh is partnering with Wayne Community College Small Business Center and the Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce to hold workshops for Spanish-speaking small business owners. When? Thursday, January 25 from 3-5 p.m. Where? Walnut Creek Wetland Center, 950 Peterson St There will be two workshop sessions. The first workshop will teach you how to turn your business idea into a reality. This session will cover entrepreneurship, from brainstorming concepts to registering your company, addressing legal requirements, planning your finances, and how to use market research. The second workshop will teach you how to create a business plan and effective marketing strategy through discussions and practical exercises. Learn to set achievable goals, craft a winning business model, and master marketing tools to boost your brand's presence and engage customers.

Conversation with Local Author and Youth Poetry Contest
Tarboro Road Community CenterThe Department of Equity and Inclusion invites you to a special event on Friday, Jan. 26 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Tarboro Road Community Center. Explore the work of Dr. Shelia Smith McKoy, a distinguished scholar, poet, and Raleigh native, as she presents her latest poetry collection, "The Bones Beneath." Dr. Smith McKoy will read selections from her book, lead a conversation about her work, and sign a limited number of free copies of the book as well. There will also be a Youth Poetry Contest during the event. Raleigh youth aged 12 to 18 are invited to share their experience living in Raleigh related to social justice and/or social change. Eligible poetry submissions will be considered for a prize from Dr. Smith McKoy. The first five submissions will have the opportunity to read their work at the event on Jan. 26. For consideration, please fill out the submission form and send your poem to connect.equity@raleighnc.gov no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23. All submissions are subject to review prior to performance.

Wake BRT: Western Corridor Station Area Plan Student Pop-Up
NCSU Talley Student Union 2610 Cates Ave., Raleigh, NCStudent Pop-Up Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Bus Rapid Transit is coming to Wake County! The western corridor will connect downtown Raleigh to downtown Cary along Western Boulevard. This will mean more frequent service and faster bus transit connections. Station Area Planning New Bus Rapid Transit will attract new residents, businesses, and investment to areas around new stations.
