The City of Raleigh's Hospitality and Nightlife team from the Office of Special Events and the Safe, Vibrant and Healthy Community Strategic Plan team invite hospitality industry owners and employees to the next HIPE session. Join us Monday, June 10th, from 3:00pm until 4:30pm at The Grove at City Market for a collaborative training with representatives from the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition, and Raleigh Police Department's ACORNS unit. The City and Wake County Public School System are excited to announce the 25th Annual Small Business Expo this June. Umstead Park/RDU Quarry Sunset Clause Trial
From RDU Forest Community Discussion Group YES! It is REALLY happening! After 6 years of DEQ-Mining staff telling us we could not appeal the loss of the 50 year sunset clause and park protection buffers (which were done in secret in March 2018); after huge citizen response (big thanks to all of you!); after several court filings and overcoming several "Motions to Dismiss"; after being sent back and forth to different courts; after filings and hearings to try to get to a trial on the merits of our case ---> we are finally getting a contested trial! The trial will go for at least 3 days, generally taking 2-hour lunch break. There are usually additional short breaks for bathroom visits and attorneys to talk with clients. It would be helpful to have an audience. Feel free to come for just a hour or 2 if that is all you have or stay for it all! You may arrive or leave courtroom at any time, but if you need to do such, please do so quietly. We are not allowed to talk during the court. This engagement event will have several methods for the community to provide their comments and ideas about the programming and project. Zoom Meeting to Discuss Athens Drive Library Yevonne Brannon is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting on Thursday, June 20th at 7 PM. I have gotten a lot of emails and texts about our community library. I think it is time to meet and discuss and decide how to move forward. We all want the bond to be successful but we also want a COMMUNITY library that serves our community - the trade we were asked to support was to move the library from the school INTO the community. This is still our goal. I, like many of you, would rather our library stay where it is if it cannot be IN OUR community not halfway to Cary, etc. This is an ongoing struggle but I am very hopeful we can work it out with the County. I know they have an interest in supporting our community's needs. I know many of you have said supporting the bond depends on how the bond supports us. - Yevonne Zoom Meeting
