Ceremonial tree planting

Moore Square 200 S. Blount St., Raleigh

Please come out to Moore Square in downtown Raleigh on Monday, October 13 at 12:15 pm for a ceremonial planting of an oak tree, the first of 250 trees to be planted in Raleigh in celebration of our nation's 250th birthday. This wonderful campaign to plant 250 trees is being organized by Rotary Club of Raleigh. They are raising funds and partnering with the City of Raleigh and other organizations to plant the trees over the next year. WRAL TV5 will be covering the event, and North State Bank is the presenting sponsor. City Budget Listening Sessions

Jaycee Park Community Center 2405 Wade Avenue, Raleigh

The City is seeking input from residents about priorities for the next City budget. The Budget and Management Services Department (BMS) will host listening sessions between October 1 and 16, and a budget priorities survey will be available between October 1 and November 30. Resident input is critical in creating a representative City budget. There will be six opportunities for in-person engagement, in addition to a virtual session. Virtual Session The virtual listening session will be held via Zoom. Residents who choose the virtual session must pre-register and will receive the Zoom link the day before the session. Wednesday, October 15, 6-7:30 p.m. In-Person Sessions In person sessions will kick off on October 1 and run through October 16. Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Virtual Meeting

City of Raleigh Monthly Report and Update - Captain Manson (SW-Southwest). Captain Nieters (SE-Southeast), Captain Van Antwerp (DT-Downtown). Our SW area is part of three different Raleigh Police Districts. Popular subjects are vandalism and Porch Pirates. (Always report porch pirates to Raleigh Police Dept) Carolina Pines Community Center Projects and Updates - Playgrounds and tennis courts are being modified. Carolina Pines Ave Improvement Project - Extending from Lake Wheeler Rd. to South Saunders St. Construction has started with alternating single lane traffic much of the day. This is going to be a complex project. Suggest avoiding the area if you don't live there. Raleigh Golf Association (RGA) - Land Sale and Rezoning - RGA property north of Tryon Rd. is in the process of being sold.
