The phrase revenue (or value) capture refers to various revenue raising instruments that local governments can employ to realize as public revenue a portion of the increase in land values arising from public infrastructure investments or land use policy changes. A staff presentation will focus on the primary value capture tools available in North Carolina, which include various types of special taxing districts as well as bonus-based zoning incentives. The presentation will also touch on tax increment finance, development agreements, and conditional zoning.

National Night Out at Westborough Neighborhood

This year, National Night Out was observed by police departments all over the country on Aug. 6, however, many events in Raleigh were canceled or rescheduled due to Tropical Storm Debby. The Raleigh Police Department will host the North Hills Mall National Night Out event on Sept. 10 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at 4011 Cardinal at North Hills St., Raleigh, 27609.

Naloxone Training for Save A Life Day

John Chavis Community Center 505 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Raleigh

In honor of Save a Life Day, Wake County Government, Raleigh Parks, and the NC Harm Reduction Coalition are sponsoring a free naloxone training event. This important session will teach participants how to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses using naloxone, a medication that can save lives.
