Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

Forest Ridge Park 2100 Old NC 98 HWY, Wake Forest

Join us for Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day! We will be hosting guided ride(s) for the whole family. The ride will start with a bike inspection and warm-up prior to setting out on the trail. We will also have our skills elements set up in the grassy area for practice. Helmets and closed toe shoes are required. If the trails are closed, the ride is canceled.

Signing Day Event: Youth Basketball Registration

Lions Park Community Center 516 Dennis Avenue, Raleigh

Join us for our first-ever Signing Day Event! Kick off our winter youth basketball registration on Saturday, Oct. 7 for a drop-in event at Lions Park Community Center from 10 a.m. to noon. Athletes can have their photo taken in front of our banner as they show their intent to play this winter! There will also be a basketball skills competition, games, a raffle and food trucks. Financial assistance will be present to approve and register participants on site, Raleigh Parks will be advertising current job openings and former NBA player and head coach Nate McMillan will come to address participants and parents at 11 a.m. Hope to see you there and in the upcoming season!

Celebrate Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week 2023 in Raleigh! National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week is a special week in the month of October, observed in the United States to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of the minority and women-owned business enterprise community. The City's MWBE program is hosting a MED Week Celebration Brunch to recognize the achievements and impacts of minority and women-owned businesses across North Carolina that have contributed to City projects. Scarecrow Festival

Pullen Park Amusements 520 Ashe Ave., Raleigh

Bring the family and have some fun building a scarecrow! You will need to bring old clothes (that you are okay leaving behind) and create a one-of-a-kind Scarecrow for all to see! Be creative! Don't forget to bring props to make your scarecrow stand out. We will supply the twine, straw, and a structure for you.
