SUMMARY:River Cane Wetland Park Invasive Plant Removal and Poetry Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this two-part event at River Cane Wetland Park\, volunteers will help remove invasive\, nonnative plant species while exploring what makes a habitat a home through poetry. \nFrom 12 noon to 1 p.m.\, join public artist Austen Camille for a short workshop to learn about the park as a shared home for many species and begin crafting a long-form poem inspired by the landscape. After the workshop\, volunteers will continue invasive plant removal alongside Raleigh Parks staff\, who will share insights about the species being removed and the native plants we’re making space for. \nThroughout the event\, participants can pause to reflect and create short poems that connect the plants they’re working with to ideas of home.
