DESCRIPTION:The Wake County Board of Elections is opening its office outside of regular hours to help voters comply with new photo identification requirements. \nThe board is holding an event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday\, Sept. 9 at 1200 North New Hope Road in Raleigh to allow voters to check their voter status\, take their photo and print a new voter ID card. \nAny registered Wake County voter can take advantage of this ID service during the Sept. 9 event or during normal business hours at the Wake County Board of Elections office in Raleigh. No appointment is necessary and the process should only take a few minutes. Voters will need to provide their name\, date of birth\, and last four digits of their social security number on a request form. \nThe Sept. 9 event is only available to eligible voters who reside in Wake County. Any voter interested in obtaining a free photo ID for voting purposes must visit their county board of elections office or the Department of Motor Vehicles. Wake County residents can still register to vote or update their information at the event prior to getting a photo ID.

DESCRIPTION:The City of Raleigh Parks\, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department announces a historic exhibit opening and a day of historical programming at the John P. “Top” Greene Community Center on September 2\, 2023\, from 10 am to 3 pm. The exhibit\, “A Century in the Making: A Cultural Legacy of South Park and East Raleigh Neighborhoods” is a pilot exhibit developed in conjunction with the South Park East Raleigh Neighborhood Association which explores the people and places that made these unique African American neighborhoods for over 100 years. Historic lectures and programs will be presented throughout the day. This event is free and open to the public.
