This will be a virtual meeting using Zoom. \n\nGreetings to Friends and Neighbors\nCity of Raleigh Inspections Report – City Inspector David Johnson will tell us what is changing this season with property upkeep.\nCity of Raleigh Monthly Report and Update – Captain Manson (SW-Southwest). Captain Nieters (SE-Southeast) are our District Commanders\, Popular subjects are vandalism and Porch Pirates. (Always report porch pirates to Raleigh Police Dept) We are trying to “Bridge” our SW Virtual meeting to the Five Points CAC Virtual Meeting where Captain Manson will discuss the recent burgulary and fatality that happened recently at 819 Clay Street in their area.\nCarolina Pines Community Center Projects and Updates – Playgrounds and tennis courts are being modified.\nCarolina Pines Ave Improvement Project – Extending from Lake Wheeler Rd. to South Saunders St. Construction has started with alternating single lane traffic much of the day. This is going to be a complex project. Suggest avoiding the area if you don’t live there.\nRaleigh Golf Association (RGA) – Land Sale and Rezoning – RGA property north of Tryon Rd. is in the process of being sold. A rezoning case that will allow “Affordable 60% AMI” apartments being built there was approved on October 7th. The number of units planned is currently about 370. Planned improvements to Fairway Drive along with a signal light at Tryon Rd will affect us all.\nLake Wheeler Road Construction at Dix Park – The section of Lake Wheeler Road from South Saunders south to the railroad crossing is about to begin significant construction. Traffic in the area will be severely limited. Avoid or plan well in advance.\nCommunity Safety – We all need to discuss any ideas about how we can make our neighborhoods safer. Incidents occur. How we come together matters a lot. Comments and updates from our community leaders and residents.\n\nOur February 9th meeting will be Virtual using Zoom. \nFor March 8th we will be back to our in-person. DESCRIPTION:Public Meeting – January 6\, 2026\n\n\n\nThe Community Awareness Committee of the Raleigh Historic Development Commissionwill conduct a public meeting on Tuesday\, January 6 at 4 p.m. in conference room 809 of One Exchange Plaza\, Raleigh\, NC 27601. \nFor questions about the meeting\, please contact historicpreservation@raleighnc.gov. \nA. \nCall to Order \n  \nB. \nPublic Comment \n  \nThis is an opportunity for the public to comment on items or issues that are not otherwise on the agenda. Please limit comments to 3 minutes per speaker. \nC. \nOld Business \n  \nC.1 \nRHDC Website Conversion \n  \nThe conversion of the RHDC’s independent website to the City of Raleigh website is an ongoing long-term project. The work is led by the City’s Historic Preservation Unit staff with assistance from the RHDC’s Community Awareness Committee. Any recently published webpages will be highlighted for informational purposes. \nC.2 \nRHDC Landmark Cards \n  \nDuring the pandemic\, the Commission designed and printed collectible trading cards for a small number of Raleigh Historic Landmark properties. The Committee will share updates on efforts to develop a more easily edited card design and discuss next steps for publishing a new series of historic landmark collectible cards. \nD. \nNew Business \n  \nD.1 \nIKE Board Digital Ad \n  \nThe committee will discuss utilizing the boards to raise awareness about the raleighhistoric.com app. The boards are installed throughout downtown Raleigh and available for the City to use for free to advertise public meetings and projects. \nD.2 \nRHDC Social Media \n  \nThe Committee will review public engagement from the previous month to determine if additional action or attention is needed.
