SUMMARY:Informal presentation and Q&A re Wake Stone Triangle Quarry
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to an informal presentation and Question/Answer session at Rally Point Sports Pub in Cary regarding the Sunset Clause on the Wake Stone Triangle Quarry next to Umstead State Park. In December a judge ruled in favor of the Sunset Clause which would make Wake Stone’s operations adjacent to Umstead cease in the year 2031. In April-ish of this year a bad judge put a stay on the good judge’s ruling. But facts are facts\, and the facts show the Sunset Clause is real. So\, if you are interested in seeing the actual documents that prove Wake Stone and their attorneys are not telling the truth\, come on out to Rally Point\,

A member of the public has requested an amendment to UDO Sec. 6.3.1.D.2.b\, which currently requires all schools to provide 500 square feet of lot area per enrolled pupil. The proposed change would retain this requirement citywide except when a school site meets the following conditions: It is located in a Mixed Use zoning district; AND the lot does not immediately abut any area zoned R-1\, R-2\, R-4\, or R-6.\n.\nThe committee voted unanimously (3-0) to recommend approval of the text change.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nE.\n\nOld Business\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nE.1\n\nRezoning Z-51-25: 4804 & 4808 Spring Forest Road\, approximately 1/4 mile west of the intersection of Louisburg Road/US-401 and Spring Forest Road (District B)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMatthew Burns\, Planning and Development\n.\nThis request would increase the maximum number of dwelling units that could be built\, allow additional building types\, and allow for residential\, commercial\, and office uses.\n.\nThe item first appeared at the May 26\, 2026\, Planning Commission. The request was deferred to allow the applicant to consider revising conditions. The applicant submitted unsigned revisions on May 29\, 2026\, which add “vape shop” to the list of prohibited uses identified in Condition 1 and offers a new Condition 3 which would require a 20-foot-wide Type 2 Protective Yard along the site’s western and southern property lines for any site plan proposing a non-residential use. Provided signatures are received by Friday\, June 5\, 2026\, the Planning Commission may consider the revisions in making their determination.\n\n.\nThe deadline for Planning Commission action is July 25\, 2026.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nE.2\n\nRezoning Z-9-26 5925 Glenwood Avenue\, South Side of Glenwood Avenue\, 170′ West of Glen Forest Drive (District E)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHiram Marziano\, Planning and Development\n.\nThis request would unify a split zoned parcel under one district and allow for expansion of mixed-use development of the site.\n.\nThis request was deferred from the May 26\, 2026\, meeting to allow applicant to consider amendments to the request.
