SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Sampada Kodagali Agarwal at Sertoma Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Sertoma Arts Center on Saturday\, May 17th\, 1 p.m. for an Artist Talk with exhibiting artist\, Sampada Kodagali Agarwal. Meet the artist\, learn about her work and creative processes\, and enjoy an afternoon at the Sertoma Arts Center. Reception to follow.  \nAbout the Exhibit\nFor this exhibition\, Sampada has created artworks influenced by Celtic symbols\, embellished with two of the traditional floor art styles from India – thus finding the same meaning in a different format – same semantics\, different syntax. Adding the 3-D element borrowed from the Celtic knot work to the Kolam and Mandana styles brought in a confluence across geographies and cultures that excited her. This integration/juxtaposition of art styles from different continents offers a different perspective to art and underlines our shared notions of creativity. \nShe hopes to connect with the community through these explorations and learn what the audience thinks of “Lines That Connect” and if it inspires new ideas and perspectives. \nLearn more about the Exhibition at Sertoma Arts Center. \nEvent Details\n\nDate: Saturday\, May 17; 1 p.m.\nLocation: Sertoma Arts Center\, 1400 Millbrook Road\, Raleigh\, NC 27612\nCost: Free and open to public\n\nTo purchase artwork\, contact Sertoma Arts Center for details.

SUMMARY:Shakespeare in the Parks: Othello - Saturday
DESCRIPTION:Free outdoor Shakespeare comes to Raleigh!\nThe “green-ey’d monster” rears its ugly head in William Shakespeare’s classic tale of jealousy\, love\, and prejudice. Noble Moorish general Othello\, secretly married to his beloved Desdemona\, chooses his friend Cassio for a promotion rather than his trusted but duplicitous ensign\, Iago. Enraged\, Iago weaves a complex scheme that spirals into a frenzy of suspicion\, ultimately leading to tragic acts of violence and irreversible loss. \nThis gripping 90-minute production preserves the classic language and core story of the full play\, making it perfect for an afternoon of culture and entertainment for couples and busy families. \nTickets are free but reservations are recommended. \nLocation: Fred Fletcher Park\nPerformance Times: 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.\nAges: All\nCost: Tickets are free but reservations are recommended.\nReserve Your Tickets

SUMMARY:Shakespeare in the Parks: Othello - Sunday

SUMMARY:East CAC
DESCRIPTION:Hi Neighbors! \n\nPlease join the East CAC next Monday for our monthly meeting.\n\n5/19/2025\nLions Park Community Center\n7 pm\n\nWe are lucky to have Senior Engineer Sheri Smith joining us to tell us about the Pigeon House Watershed study and take your questions. The goal of the study is to identify ways to improve the watershed by reducing flooding\, replacing/renewing stormwater pipes and infrastructure in poor condition\, improve water quality\, and repairing stream banks.\n\n\n\nThere is also time for folks to share information about things going on in our area and have a general discussion.\n\nMy co-chair Mark records the meetings live on Facebook and YouTube. He keeps an eye on the chat so you can ask questions even if you aren’t physically present. You can even watch them later. \nhttps://youtube.com/@east-cac\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/share/1KvGvjd3Fr/?mibextid=wwXIfr\n\n\n\nI did want to mention that we’ve been having low turnout at our recent meetings even accounting for folks watching virtually. We can always move the meetings to every other month if monthly is proving too frequent. If you’d like to attend meetings but can’t I’d love to hear from you separately about your reasons. Please email me! We want as many people as possible to be able to participate. If the day or time is a problem we might need to do a poll to see if there’s a better time.\n\nBest\,\nJean Mosher\nEast CAC Chair
