At that meeting\, the Planning Commission deferred action to their June 9\, 2026\, meeting to allow more time to consider the request.\n.\nThe deadline for Planning Commission Action is July 25\, 2026.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nE.2\n\nRezoning Z-08-26: 5525 & 5605 Rock Quarry Road\, approximately .2 miles west of the intersection of Rock Quarry Road & Barwell Road (District C)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMatthew McGregor\, Planning and Development\n.\nThis request would increase the maximum number of dwelling units that could be built\, allow additional building types\, and allow for residential\, commercial\, and various office uses. There are three proposed conditions associated with this request. The first condition prohibits detention centers\, jails\, prisons\, and vehicle fuel sales. The second condition prohibits vape and tobacco shops. The third condition prohibits internet or electronic sweepstakes cafés or parlors.\n.\nThis request previously appeared on the Planning Commission’s June 9 agenda. For public comment there is 4:25 remaining for those in favor and 6:45 remaining for those in opposition. At that meeting\, the Planning Commission deferred action to their June 23\, 2026\, meeting to allow for more time to consider the request and for the applicant to consider revising the request. Changes to previous conditions include prohibiting cemetery as a use\, reducing the limit on principal dwelling units from 54 to 47 and adding in language regarding how site access is addressed.\nThis request was previously reviewed by Planning Commission during the March 10 and April 14. SUMMARY:Planning Commission Committee of the Whole
DESCRIPTION:The Committee of the Whole is an informal special meeting of the full Planning Commission\, held to facilitate further discussions on specific referral items. The Planning Commission bylaws state that rezoning requests that are deemed inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and future land use map are automatically referred to the Committee of the Whole. Additionally\, requests for Planned Development or Campus District are also automatically referred to this Committee. \nThe committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB)\, located at 222 West Hargett Street\, in the Council Chamber or in conference room 305.
