Enjoy the sights\, sounds\, and heat of the pour\, grab a bite from local food trucks\, and take part in a fun\, creative experience for all ages. \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event starts at 11am with the furnace lighting around noon. Enjoy food trucks and crafts while you wait for the iron to reach 3000 degrees Farenheit—the temperature at which the molten iron can be cast. DESCRIPTION:In this two-part event at River Cane Wetland Park\, volunteers will help remove invasive\, nonnative plant species while exploring what makes a habitat a home through poetry. \nFrom 12 noon to 1 p.m.\, join public artist Austen Camille for a short workshop to learn about the park as a shared home for many species and begin crafting a long-form poem inspired by the landscape. After the workshop\, volunteers will continue invasive plant removal alongside Raleigh Parks staff\, who will share insights about the species being removed and the native plants we’re making space for. \nThroughout the event\, participants can pause to reflect and create short poems that connect the plants they’re working with to ideas of home.
