If the Committee agrees that the properties should be sent landmark inquiry letters\, the letters will be prepared and signed at the next meeting.\n.\nAt the December 2025 Research Committee meeting\, the Committee decided to review modernist properties.  The Committee completed its review of modernist structures currently included on the list of Places Worthy of Preservation at their March 2026 meeting. A list of properties identified in the 2020 Leif Valand Historic Context report is attached\, the last page of properties have not yet been evaluated for inclusion on the list.\n\nSee the complete list of Properties Worthy of Preservation at raleighnc.gov\, search term: ”landmarks”\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nC.\n\nNew Business\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nC.1\n\nGeorge W. Norwood Mill\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA local historian has requested an opportunity to present their research and findings on the George W. Norwood Mill to the RHDC.  The mill is located on Marsh Creek near the Raleigh Racquet Club. George Washington Norwood is a descendant of Isaac Hunter and built the grist mill in the 1870s. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nC.2\n\nBiltmore Hills National Register Celebration Planning\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne of the items listed on the RHDC’s 2026 Work Plan is to plan and host a celebration for the Biltmore Hills neighborhood when it is placed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Biltmore Hills National Register nomination is scheduled to be reviewed at the National Register Advisory Committee in October.
