SUMMARY:Local climate advocates host climate anxiety event ahead of Earth Day
DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: \nLocal climate advocates host climate anxiety event ahead of Earth Day \nTogether with Eco+Pack@NCSU and the Raleigh Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby\, Toward Zero Waste is hosting a free workshop entitled Keep Your Cool In A Warming World: Facing Your Fear About Climate Change. \n\n\n\n\nWhere: \n\n\nNorth Carolina State University’s Talley Student Union\, Room #4280\, located at 2610 Cates Avenue\, Raleigh\, NC 27606. Parking is free after 5pm and available at the Coliseum Parking Deck on 201 Jensen Dr\, Raleigh\, NC 27606. \n\n\n\n\nWhen:\nCost:\nHow to Participate: This event is open to the public\, but capacity is limited. Registration \nrequired at: https://keep-cool.eventbrite.com. \nDuring this free\, one-hour workshop\, somatic psychotherapist Miriam Brodersen will guide attendees as they explore the psychological roots of the climate crisis\, discuss strategies to help when feeling overwhelmed\, and demonstrate mindfulness techniques to develop resilience when confronting daunting environmental issues. \n“So many people want to see action on climate\, but decades of seeing political leaders from both sides of the aisle continue to ignore climate impacts has left them feeling hopeless\,” said Beth Carmichael\, a local CCL volunteer and co-organizer of the event. “We are offering this workshop to show our community that it is possible for people to transform their perspective and approach the climate crisis with both pragmatism and optimism.” \nBeth struggled with similar feelings of hopelessness before finding Citizens’ Climate Lobby. “It is easy to feel powerless and overwhelmed by the scope of the climate problem. What I’ve learned is that working with others who are as concerned as I am feels so much better than doom-scrolling social media.” \nCONTACT: Dargan Gilmore at dargan@towardzerowaste.org \n\n\n\n\nApril 17th from 5:30-6:30 pm FREE
