SUMMARY:Five Points CAC
DESCRIPTION:Please plan to join us Monday night for our January Five Points CAC meeting.  It will be a zoom meeting.\n \n\n\nZoom Meeting link:\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/84111555416  \n\n\nCaptain J.R. Manson will offer insights we can take away from the tragic event that took place last weekend on Clay Street\, next to Fred Fletcher Park\, such as strategies to protect yourself when an intruder is in your house\, being vigilant and noting unusual people in your vicinity that could be looking for vulnerable homes or people\, etc.\n\n \nCaptain Manson will also share plans for enforcing the new noise ordinance that took effect on January 1st in the trouble spots in and around Five Points. \n \nDale Neal and Raleigh Water city staff will discuss the new Raleigh Water Self-Service billing portal.  If you have struggled with getting your new account set up\, this discussion will be really helpful.\n \nAnd Council Member Christina Jones plans to join us to share a City Council update.\n \n\n\nI have extended our usual hour meeting time to an hour and a half so that we will not need to rush through these important topics.  \n \n\nWe look forward to your input and questions—please join us.\n\n \n\n\nHope to see you in the Zoom meeting Monday night.\n \nEdie

This is going to be a complex project. Suggest avoiding the area if you don’t live there.\nRaleigh Golf Association (RGA) – Land Sale and Rezoning – RGA property north of Tryon Rd. is in the process of being sold. A rezoning case that will allow “Affordable 60% AMI” apartments being built there was approved on October 7th. The number of units planned is currently about 370. Planned improvements to Fairway Drive along with a signal light at Tryon Rd will affect us all.\nLake Wheeler Road Construction at Dix Park – The section of Lake Wheeler Road from South Saunders south to the railroad crossing is about to begin significant construction. Traffic in the area will be severely limited. Avoid or plan well in advance.\nCommunity Safety – We all need to discuss any ideas about how we can make our neighborhoods safer. Incidents occur. How we come together matters a lot. Comments and updates from our community leaders and residents.\n\nOur February 9th meeting will be Virtual using Zoom. \nFor March 8th we will be back to our in-person. We are scheduled at our traditional home Carolina Pines Community Center\, 2305 Lake Wheeler Rd. for our In Person Community Meeting at 7:00pm.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Zoom Meeting
