Sean Driskill\, the manager of Raleigh’s Vision Zero program will be presenting at our meeting next Monday.\n\n\nFor those of you who are confused by the program name as I originally was\, Vision Zero refers to the goal of reducing traffic fatalities so much that we end up having zero fatalities. The applicant for rezoning case Z-54-22\, which was voted down by City Council two years ago\, is restarting the process to bring this case back before City Council. Our District D City Councilor led the effort to deny this rezoning request two years ago. Now the applicant is coming forward with some money for the future Smokey Hollow city park and some money for the City’s affordable housing fund. These incentives don’t change the request for 30 stories where 12 stories is already approved for this Downtown Transition area. If approved will this set a new precedent for other Downtown Transition areas? This rezoning location is just outside the eastern edge of the Hillsborough-Wade CAC and is actually within the Mordecai CAC boundary.
