SUMMARY:Transit Rider Focus Group for Wake Transit Plan Update
DESCRIPTION:Transit Rider Focus Group for Wake Transit Plan Update \nIn 2016\, Wake County voters approved a half-cent sales tax referendum dedicated to expanding and strengthening transit services in Wake County. The Wake Transit Plan (WTP) is the county-wide transit investment program that decides how those funds will be spent on services and projects to shape the future of transit service across Wake County. Every four years\, the Wake Transit Plan is updated to revisit and confirm the region’s ten-year transit investment strategy. This plan will decide how to invest nearly $1 billion over the next 10 years to make it easier for people in Wake County to use public transportation. \nWake Transit staff is currently sharing ideas for how to improve transit access across the region. These ideas are part of what we are sharing now and are helping us develop an investment strategy that will: \n·       Create fast\, reliable connections between Raleigh and Durham with bus rapid transit (BRT) \n·       Make regional rail options better for traveling between major destinations like Durham\, Raleigh\, Cary\, and Wake Forest \n·       Expand the programmed bus rapid transit (BRT) network \n·       Expand frequent local bus service (every 15-minutes or better) \n·       Build mobility hubs across Wake County to enhance multimodal connections \n·       Provide safe access to transit with ADA-accessible stops\, sidewalk connections\, and signalized crossings. \nWe need input from transit riders to tell us what you think about these new ideas for regional connections\, and which projects should come first. Regular transit riders are invited to join Wake Transit staff for a focus group discussion. See below for meeting details: \nDoodle | Sign-up Sheet \n\n\n\n\nDate \n\n\nJanuary 15th \n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n6 pm – 7:30 pm \n\n\n\n\nLocation \n\n\nRaleigh Union Station \n2nd Floor Conference Room \n510 W Martin St \n\n\n\n\nDoodle | Sign-up Sheet \nPlease email questions to: \nMary Kate Morookain – marykate.morookian@kimley-horn.com \nAndrea Epstein – andrea.epstein@raleighnc.gov \n\n\n\n\nTrack your bus in real-time. \nVisit: www.GoRaleighLive.org
