SUMMARY:Hybrid Midtown Citizens Advisory Council Meeting
DESCRIPTION:I hope that everyone had a great weekend and wonderful Mother’s Day.\n\nPlease note the date of our meeting. We are meeting a week earlier than normal (May 18) due to the Memorial Holiday the following Monday. Please mark your calendars accordingly.\nThe agenda for the May meeting and minutes from the April meeting are appended.\n\nIn addition to our police report and Councilor updates\, we are pleased to have representatives of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at NC State at our meeting this month. OLLI at NC State is a membership-based organization offering courses\, lectures\, study trips\, and events for adults 50 and older. Founded in 1991 as the Encore Program for Lifelong Enrichment\, they received an endowment from the Bernard Osher Foundation in 2014 and became the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at NC State. Here is a link to their organization for further information: https://olli.lifelonglearning.ncsu.edu/about-us/\n\nIn addition\, we will be introduced to a NCDOT beta mapping tool called “Projects Near Me” that will be having its soft launch this month\, followed by going live this summer. The status of transportation projects occurring across the state. The tool consolidates project information into a single accessible location\, helping users quickly identify nearby NCDOT projects\, understand their status\, and access relevant details without needing to navigate multiple systems or contact the Department. Here is a preliminary link to the mapping tool:\nhttps://www.ncdot.gov/projects/ProjectsNearMe/\n\nOne last important matter that is of utmost importance to the sustainability of the Midtown CAC. Our last election was in June 2023. We have several vacancies in the administration of our CAC that need to be filled. Kathleen Cody will not be continuing in her vital role as our Secretary / Media Specialist. We also need both Chairman\, Vice Chairman and Liaisons for succession planning for now and in the future. The intent is to have an election for new officers in June. If you are interested\, please contact me within the month so we can generate a slate of candidates for the June meeting.\nHope to see everyone next Monday evening.\nThank you\,\nLarry\n\nHybrid Midtown Citizens Advisory Council Meeting\nMonday\, May 18\, 2026\, 7:00-9:00 p.m.\nEastgate Park Community Center\n4200 Quail Hollow Drive \n1) 7:00 Call to Order and Welcome to Midtown CAC \n2) 7:05 Review and Approval of April 2026 Minutes \n3) 7:10 Sergeant Garcia\, Raleigh Police Department\nActivity and Crime Stats Report for Midtown\nQuestion and Answer \n4) 7:20 City Council Updates\nMitchell Silver\, District A\nChristina Jones\, District E \n5) 7:30 Introduction to Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at NC State\nKimberly Mahl\, Business & Communications Coordinator\, OLLI\nChristine Holmes\, Membership Development & Marketing\, OLLI\nNorth Carolina State University \n6) 8:00 Introduction to a New Tool from NCDOT: Projects Near Me\nLee Mai Project Manager\, PMU- Team A Div. 1-4\, 6\nNorth Carolina Department of Transportation \n7) 8:30 Old/ New Business\, Announcements\, Remarks \n8) 9:00 Adjournment\nIn Person Location:\nEastgate Park Community Center\n4200 Quail Hollow Drive\, Raleigh\, NC 27609 \nVirtual:\nZoom Meeting Link:\nAvailable by Request \nVisit our Midtown CAC Facebook page:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/MidtownCAC
