SUMMARY:Mordecai CAC
DESCRIPTION:Join us on May 14 at the Person Street Bar\nPlease join the Person Street Partnership (PSP) and the Mordecai CAC on Tuesday May 14\, 2024 at the Person Street Bar 5:30 to 7pm for a joint celebration of the success of the PSP which started with its first meeting at the Urban Design Center in March of 2011. \nThe partnership was founded by Philip Bernard\, former Mordecai CAC co-chair and current Mordecai Traffic chair as a way to revitalize the North Person Street business district by making changes to Blount and Person Streets in order to calm traffic in the district. The PSP advocated for the funding of the Blount/Person Street and Wake Forest corridor study which subsequently resulted in funding for Phase One of the corridor project\, the “road diet” which was completed in 2021. \nSince its inception\, the PSP has organized quarterly meetings and “visioning presentations” with NC State’s graduate school of Architecture and Design\, business and property owners\, the surrounding neighborhoods including Mordecai and Oakwood\, William Peace University\, Raleigh City Council and Staff\, and anyone who wished to see North Person Street flourish as a neighborhood business district. \nIn 2014\, the PSP was awarded a Sir Walter Raleigh award for community appearance and was also named one of the ten most up and coming downtown neighborhood business districts in the country by USA Today. The PSP has partnered with the Village at Pilot Mill to create the Holiday Light-ball Project and the City of Raleigh and Downtown Raleigh Alliance to create the Person Street Bench project and the “Build a Better Person” mural. So please plan to join us on May 14 to celebrate our many successes. This will be Philip Bernard’s last official gathering as leader of the group as he plans to step down to pursue other interests. Join other PSP partners as we continue exploring new ways to “Build a Better Person” and new directions for the PSP.

SUMMARY:Hillsborough-Wade CAC meeting on Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Hillsborough-Wade CAC meeting on Zoom: Tuesday\, March 26 at 7:00 PM \nJoin Zoom Meeting: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/82637122731?pwd=c29uUFloeTB1Ny8wLzFvdWpaMkZKZz09 \nMeeting ID: 826 3712 2731 \nPasscode: 258463 \nHi CAC neighbors\, \nREMINDER: One week from today we will have our monthly Hillsborough-Wade CAC meeting on Zoom. Please put Tuesday\, March 26 at 7:00 PM on your calendar. The Zoom link is at the bottom of this email. For right now\, our H-W CAC Board has decided to alternate monthly meetings between in-person and Zoom. We hope this will help accommodate the most people and their schedules. \nAlso\, we have an AGENDA UPDATE. The Biophilia presentation has been moved to our April in-person meeting so we can accommodate Brian Smith’s schedule. Our meeting next week will have an interesting pairing of the future Hillsborough Street Phase 3 improvements and the rezoning case which is along that same section of the street. I’ll also give an update on what the RCAC and City of Raleigh are doing since the February 6th vote to restore City support. \nCurrent Agenda:\n• Update from the Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation.\n• Presentation on Biophilia and Raleigh’s membership in the international network of Biophilic Cities.* (moved to next month)\n• Report on progress from the RCAC and City of Raleigh\n• Presentation on the future Phase 3 of Hillsborough Street improvements. This phase/section is the stretch from the roundabout at Shepherd & Rosemary westward to the I-440 Beltline interchange.\n• Update on rezoning case Z-83-22 (property includes where the Arby’s was on Hillsborough Street). \n*One of our very active CAC members and super volunteer\, Marsha Presnell-Jennette\, thought it would be good to hear from Brian Smith (our Natural Resources Superintendent) about the Biophilic Cities Network and Raleigh’s efforts to improve our environment and connections to it. Read more about Biophilic design and concepts. \nBelow the Zoom link are some photos from our February meeting. Last month’s meeting was a celebration of the recent City Council vote to officially recognize and support CACs once again. We had an interesting and informative group discussion about community engagement with City Councilors Christina Jones and Jonathan Melton. Councilor Jones introduced the motion on February 6th to reinstate City recognition and support of CACs. Councilor Melton was our 5th vote we needed to make it happen. A big thanks to them and the entire City Council that voted unanimously last month. \nTwo more links for your review: the Community Engagement presentation that the City Council received at their retreat before the February 6th vote. Councilor Melton mentioned this presentation to me at our last CAC meeting and thought our members would be interested in it. Also\, Lance Shinholser at the Community Engagement Office is leading the effort for a “Vote Local 2024” campaign. He suggested it as a potential agenda item for one of our meetings between now and election time.See you next Tuesday on Zoom\, \nMike \n\nMichael Lindsay\nChair of the Hillsborough-Wade CAC\nMobile: 919-429-0177\ninform@nc.rr.com \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nHillsborough-Wade CAC meeting on Zoom: Tuesday\, March 26 at 7:00 PM \n\nJoin Zoom Meeting: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/82637122731?pwd=c29uUFloeTB1Ny8wLzFvdWpaMkZKZz09 \n\nMeeting ID: 826 3712 2731 \nPasscode: 258463

SUMMARY:Hybrid Midtown Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Neighbors\,\nHope that everyone is doing well this month.\nAppended is our agenda for this month’s meeting. We are continuing the hybrid model\, with the in person meeting at Eastgate Park Community Center\, combined with virtual participation using Zoom. \nWe will open the meeting with updates from our local RPD members\, followed by some special guests. \nAs many of you know\, Council is working on the budget for 2024 / 2025. In an effort to inform our area residents on issues of importance\, we are featuring some work force groups that need more local attention. This month\, we are hosting Caleb Lewis\, representing the Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association (RPFFA) for a discussion on Separation Allowance for Firefighters. \nOur second guest speaker will provide additional detail on the long awaited Six Forks Road Improvement project that was finally approved by Council in February. While this project has been scaled back in terms of road coverage\, it will definitely provide property relief to those residents and businesses along Six Forks road\, in addition to traffic relief and improved intersection safety from Rowan to Millbrook road. Hopefully\, this first stage of improvement will lead to budgeting for additional sections of Six Forks (stages 2 and 3)\, in an effort to catch up with planned development in other sections of the roadway. \nWe will wrap the meeting with updates from our local District Councilors that represent Midtown. \nI look forward to seeing everyone later this month. \nRegards\,\nLarry Helfant\nMidtown CAC ChairmanAgenda \n\n\n\n\n\nHybrid Midtown Citizens Advisory Council Meeting \n\n\nMonday\, March 25\, 2024\, 7:00-9:00 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n1)   7:00           Call to Order and Welcome to Midtown CAC \n\n\n\n\n\n2)   7:05           Review of Minutes of Prior MCAC meetings\nDiscussion of Minutes\, Followed by Amendment / Vote \n\n\n\n\n\n3)   7:10           RPD officers Winkle and Garcia \n\n\n\n\n\n                        Activity and Crime Stats Report for Midtown \n\n\n                        Question and Answer \n\n\n\n\n\n4)   7:30           Separation Allowance for Firefighters \n\n\n                        Caleb Lewis (Fire Station 16) \n\n\n                        Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association (RPFFA) \n\n\n\n\n\n5)   7:45           Six Forks Road Improvement Project\, Design\, Outreach & Communication \n\n\n                        Sylvester Percival\, PE and staff \n\n\n                        City of Raleigh Engineering Services Department \n\n\n                        Roadway Design and Construction \n\n\n\n\n\n6)   8:30           City Council Updates \n\n\n\n\n\n7)   8:45           Old / New Business\, Announcements\, Remarks \n\n\n\n\n\n8)   9:00           Adjournment \n\n\n\n\n\nIn Person Location: \n\n\n                        Eastgate Park Community Center \n\n\n                        Eastgate Park\, 4200 Quail Hollow Drive \n\n\n                        Raleigh\, NC 27609 \n\n\n\n\n\nZoom Meeting Link: \n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/86172852122?pwd=cS92NjVIQng4TWRYUXBHSUpYc3hZUT09 \n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 861 7285 2122 \n\n\nPasscode: 347661 \n\n\nOne tap mobile \n\n\n+16468769923\,\,86172852122#\,\,\,\,*347661# US (New York) \n\n\n+16469313860\,\,86172852122#\,\,\,\,*347661# US \n\n\n\n\n\nVisit our Midtown CAC Facebook page: \n\n\n https://www.facebook.com/MidtownCAC

SUMMARY:Hybrid Midtown CAC Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Hope that everyone is having a good year. In addition to all of the recent holidays\, February was a special month for Raleigh CACs with the recognition and support that was approved by Council on February 6. While details on the renewed relationship with the City are still being discussed\, the recent Council action has brought back a critical community driven means of information exchange with residents and City administration. \nThe challenge for 2024 will be to strengthen and expand the function and relationship of CACs to all neighborhoods in Raleigh\, especially in those areas where CACs have ceased to function due to lack of City support for four years. A special thanks to City Council and all of the volunteers and supporters of CACs that made the return of CACs possible.\n\nOne more important note: The Six Forks Road Improvement project will finally be presented to Council during their session on February 20. Please encourage the Council to get this project moving. Time is ticking away and development is not waiting! Each day that the project is further delayed increases overall costs and prolongs the traffic issues for Midtown while keepin property owners in limbo while they continue to await ROW settlements.\n\nOur program for February is targeted to transportation updates for the Midtown area. We will have updates on the status of the Northern routing of the planned BRT service\, in addition to updates on bus services from GoRaleigh.\n\n\n\nAgenda \n\n\nHybrid Midtown Citizens Advisory Council Meeting \n\n\nMonday\, February 26\, 2024\, 7:00-9:00 pm \n\n\n1)   7:00           Call to Order and Welcome to Midtown CAC \n\n\n2)   7:05           Review of Minutes of Prior MCAC meetings\nDiscussion of Minutes\, Followed by Amendment / Vote \n\n\n3)   7:10           RPD officers Winkle and Garcia \n\n\n                        Activity and Crime Stats Report for Midtown \n\n\n                        Question and Answer \n\n\n4).   7:30          Public Service Notice \n\n\n                        Carlos Perez  – \n\n\n                        City of Raleigh Water – \n\n\n5)   7:40           Proposed Northern Corridor – Connect Downtown Raleigh to Midtown \n\n\n                        Het Patel\, AICP \n\n\n                        Transit Planning Supervisor \n\n\n                        City of Raleigh Transportation Department \n\n\n6)   8:00           Midtown Go Raleigh Bus Service Updates \n\n\n                        David Walker\, Dana Smith \n\n\n                        GoRaleigh / GoRaleigh Access \n\n\n                        City of Raleigh Transportation Department \n\n\n7)   8:30           City Council Updates \n\n\n8)   8:45           Old / New Business\, Announcements\, Remarks \n\n\n9)   9:00           Adjournment \n\n\n\n\n\nIn Person Location: \n\n\n                        Eastgate Park Community Center \n\n\n                        Eastgate Park\, 4200 Quail Hollow Drive \n\n\n                        Raleigh\, NC 27609 \n\n\nZoom Meeting Link: \n\n\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/86172852122?pwd=cS92NjVIQng4TWRYUXBHSUpYc3hZUT09 \n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 861 7285 2122 \n\n\nPasscode: 347661 \n\n\nOne tap mobile \n\n\n+16468769923\,\,86172852122#\,\,\,\,*347661# US (New York) \n\n\n+16469313860\,\,86172852122#\,\,\,\,*347661# US \n\n\n\n\n\nVisit our Midtown CAC Facebook page: \n\n\n https://www.facebook.com/MidtownCAC
