SUMMARY:Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement -- In-Person Meeting
DESCRIPTION:SW Community Meeting at the Carolina Pines Community Center (2305 Lake Wheeler Rd.). We will meet in person\, without streaming\, next Monday evening\, June 9th\, at 7:00 pm.  \n\nThere will be reports from Raleigh Police Officers and City Inspections.\nWe plan to have a special update from Lisa Genschel\, of the Dix Park Conservancy who will tell us about a new way to participate in and support Dix Park activities. The official opening of the beautiful new Gipson Play Plaza at Dorothea Dix Park is scheduled this coming weekend (June 6-8).\n\n Carolina Pines Improvement Project – With the contract for construction along the entire length of Carolina Pines Avenue having been awarded we should be seeing a Pre-Construction meeting with our neighborhood in the coming weeks. That meeting for Community with the City Engineering Services and Contractor will be at Carolina Pines Community Center. Date and time TBD.\nI have been told that we can use the Center’s freezer. Therefore\, I will\, as previously promised\, donate ice cream. Please come and help with the ice cream.  Since I have no idea as to how many will attend I don’t need to be left with melting cartons and no freezer space. Please bring help. Kids welcome.\n\nThis meeting is intended to be focused on sharing interests\, and concerns and just acquainting ourselves with our neighbors. Please join this gathering if you can. Hopefully\, we will have a good turnout. I plan to schedule in-person meetings four times a year (next one in September) the others will continue to use Zoom.\n\nChair set-up in our traditional room at Carolina Pines Center will start at about 6:45 pm. Our next meeting in July will resume the popular Zoom/Streaming format.

DESCRIPTION:Meeting Wednesday June 25th at 7pm\n\nIt’s time to meet and talk about what’s going on in West Raleigh!\n\n\n\nWe have a rezoning that our group will be interested in learning more about. The “Well Fed Garden” on Athens Drive has been growing fresh fruit and vegetables for over 10 years and the owners\, Arthur and Anya Gordon are seeking a rezoning to transform the aprox 2.6 acres into a multi use property that would include apartments and possibly retail uses. They have a second public Hearing before Raleigh City Council on July 1st and this is an opportunity to hear from them and ask questions as they will join us for this meeting.  We will also have someone from Raleigh Planning to discuss the land uses and how the rezoning affects the neighborhood.\n\nWe hope you can join us via zoom on Wednesday evening at 7pm.
