SUMMARY:Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Group
DESCRIPTION:Friends and neighbors\, \nSW Community Meeting at the Carolina Pines Community Center (2305 Lake Wheeler Rd.). We will meet in person\, without streaming\, next Monday evening\, March 10th\, at 7:00 pm. \n\nThere will be reports from Raleigh Police Officers and City Inspections.\nWe plan to have a special update from Kate Pearce\, Director of Dix Park about the upcoming completion and opening of the beautiful new Gipson Play Area at Dorothea Dix Park.\n\nWe need your help! City of Raleigh Engineering Services requested at the recent City Council meeting that all three bids submitted for the Carolina Pines Improvement Project be rejected because they are excessively high. That is based on a revised estimate that was lowered after three years to $16\,906\,895 from the original Capital Projects Bond amount of $19\,492\,517. Council did not do so and will consider the Project in a Work Session on 11 March. Apparently funds available for the project have also dwindled over the last three years to $14\,312\,143. Please reach out and let our representatives know that we need this project as originally designed and not some “fire sale” left-over scaled down version. Ask Council to find the missing $5\,180\,374 and build our long over-due street so people don’t have to walk in the street.\nI have been told that we can use the Center’s freezer. Therefore\, I will\, as previously promised\, donate ice cream. Please come and help with the ice cream. In honor of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day a week early we will feature an abundance of Mint Chocolate Chip along with other flavors. Since I have no idea as to how many will attend I don’t need to be left with melting cartons and no freezer space. Please bring help. Kids welcome.\nThis meeting is intended to be focused on sharing interests\, and concerns and just acquainting ourselves with our neighbors. Please join this gathering if you can. Hopefully\, we will have a good turnout. I plan to schedule in-person meetings four times a year (next one in June) the others will continue to use Zoom.\n\nChair set-up in our traditional room at Carolina Pines Center will start at about 6:45 pm. Our next meeting in April will resume the popular Zoom/Streaming format. \nThank you all for taking an active interest in our community. \nBob Edgerton\nSouthwest Community Engagement\n[Formerly SWCAC]\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Zoom Meeting

SUMMARY:East CAC
DESCRIPTION:You all are going to love our special guest for this month’s CAC meeting because he’ll be covering a topic we all really care about! Sean Driskill\, the manager of Raleigh’s Vision Zero program will be presenting at our meeting next Monday.\n\n\nFor those of you who are confused by the program name as I originally was\, Vision Zero refers to the goal of reducing traffic fatalities so much that we end up having zero fatalities. A lofty goal\, but they’re starting out just trying to reduce injuries and fatalities along our transportation network. 🚙 \n\nPlease come to our meeting Monday the 24th at 7 pm at the Lion’s Park Community Center to learn more about how the City of Raleigh is working to achieve this goal and to share your thoughts.\n\nLooking forward to seeing you all there!\n\nBest\,\nJean Mosher\nEast CAC Chair\n\nPS: Please mark your calendars for next month’s special earth day meeting on April 21. That has changed. We will have Robert Rice\, Chairman of the Raleigh CAC as our guest speaker. I have provided updates in the past and we have completed surveys to help us guide our further association with the City. Robert will provide an update to those efforts. \nAs you may recall\, all CACs belong to the larger organization\, Raleigh CAC or RCAC. In addition\, Councilor Christina Jones\, is now our Council liaison to facilitate effective communication between our organization and City Council. \nIn other news\, Sarah Shaugnessy\, City Planning\, has provided further information and City web site links about Reflecting Raleigh\, our next Comprehensive Plan update. While I would have preferred an in person update\, she has provided the following information: \n“We have made all of our in-person Community Conversation events accessible online for anyone who was not able to attend. All of the community conversation events were recorded and are available for viewing on Raleigh’s YouTube Chanel. We welcome you and other Midtown CAC members to view them and share your thoughts though our related surveys. I have linked these resources below for ease of access. We will use all of this online community engagement to guide the development of the plan in phase II. \n  \n\nAffordable Housing Summit Recording | Links to Presentations | Housing Priorities Survey\nWeathering the Storm Community Conversation Recording | Links to Presentations | Stormwater Management Survey\nA City in Motion Community Conversation Recording | Links to Presentations | Transportation Survey\n\n  \nIf you wish to speak to a staff member one-on-one\, I would encourage you to attend one of our upcoming Ask-A-Planner events. The focus is trees and urban ecosystems\, but staff are happy to address any questions related to the comprehensive plan. The schedule is below.” \n  \n\nMarch 20\, 3-6pm\, Virtual Webinar\nMarch 24\, 3-6pm\, Biltmore Hills Community Center\nMarch 27\, 3-6pm\, Walnut Creek Wetland Center\n\nI hope that you find this information helpful. SUMMARY:Hillsborough-Wade CAC (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Hi CAC neighbors\, \nWe have an agenda update for our Hillsborough-Wade CAC meeting this coming Tuesday\, March 25 at 7:00 PM. We will meet on Zoom\, the link is below. \nOur meeting will feature a presentation on AI (Artificial Intelligence). This will be a good opportunity to learn more about AI and how you can use it. \nClick on the below image to watch a 4 minute video about AI. \nAgenda\n• Police report.\n• Update from Hillsborough-Street Community Service Corporation.\n• Presentation about AI: understanding the basics and “how-tos” plus an overview on AI developments and how they impact us.\n• Update on rezoning cases in our CAC. The applicant for rezoning case Z-54-22\, which was voted down by City Council two years ago\, is restarting the process to bring this case back before City Council. Our District D City Councilor led the effort to deny this rezoning request two years ago. Now the applicant is coming forward with some money for the future Smokey Hollow city park and some money for the City’s affordable housing fund. These incentives don’t change the request for 30 stories where 12 stories is already approved for this Downtown Transition area. If approved will this set a new precedent for other Downtown Transition areas? This rezoning location is just outside the eastern edge of the Hillsborough-Wade CAC and is actually within the Mordecai CAC boundary. However\, this case most affects the Glenwood-Brooklyn Neighborhood which is in the Five Points CAC.\nClick here to read the opinion of Glenwood-Brooklyn resident Roy Attride. \nSee you this Tuesday evening\,\nMike \nMichael Lindsay\nChair of the Hillsborough-Wade CAC\nMobile: 919-429-0177\ninform@nc.rr.com \nJoin H-W CAC Zoom Meeting \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/89408784906?pwd=1tPdfaZbmlWy9jYizM90veyuc8VAoJ.1 \nMeeting ID: 894 0878 4906 \nPasscode: 365664 \n— \nOne tap mobile \n+13017158592\,\,89408784906#\,\,\,\,*365664# US (Washington DC) \n+13052241968\,\,89408784906#\,\,\,\,*365664# US \n— \nDial by your location \n\n+1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC)\n+1 305 224 1968 US\n+1 309 205 3325 US\n+1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago)\n+1 646 558 8656 US (New York)\n+1 646 931 3860 US\n+1 719 359 4580 US\n+1 253 205 0468 US\n+1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma)\n+1 346 248 7799 US (Houston)\n+1 360 209 5623 US\n+1 386 347 5053 US\n+1 507 473 4847 US\n+1 564 217 2000 US\n+1 669 444 9171 US\n+1 669 900 9128 US (San Jose)\n+1 689 278 1000 US\n\nMeeting ID: 894 0878 4906 \nPasscode: 365664 \nFind your local number: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/kerIhtFQQS \n\n\n\n\n
