SUMMARY:Public Sculpture Dedication
DESCRIPTION:Experience Rhythms and Whispers\, a new public artwork by Nature Preserves Artist-in-Residence\, Scott Hazard (@hazardscott)\, now on view at Annie Louise Wilkerson\, MD Nature Preserve! \n\n\n\nMade of multiple layered panels of weathered steel\, Rhythms and Whispers frames a view of the evolving Piedmont prairie landscape found at the preserve\, encouraging visitors to pause and reflect on their surroundings. The sculpture includes text about the special landscape crafted by poets Chris Tonelli\, Lauren Hunter\, and Suzanne Beaumont\, and conservationist\, author\, and historian David Rahahę·tih Webb. \nMeet the artist and collaborators on Thursday\, Sept. 24\, and learn more about the inspiration behind the work at a dedication event from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. An optional short interpretive talk and walk through the meadow where the sculpture is located will be led by Nature Preserve Manager Bryan England at 5 p.m. \nThis project is presented by Raleigh Arts\, with additional funding provided by South Arts. \nLearn more about the Nature Preserves Artist-In-Residence program \nDirections\nTo view the artwork\, park at the visitor center and walk to the picnic shelter. The work is at the edge of the meadow area near the picnic shelter.
