After several Special Committee Meetings and a Public Comment Session for board and commission members\, the committee made several recommendations that have been adopted by City Council. The approved changes include:\n.\n\n\nThe adoption of a standard bylaw template to be used by all boards and commissions;\nThe approval of a document offering guidance to members of Council serving as liaisons to a board or commission;\nThe adoption of a resolution authorizing the dissolution of the Historic Cemeteries Advisory Board and consolidation with the Historic Resources and Museum Advisory Board;\nThe adoption of an ordinance to rename the Fair Housing Hearing Board to the Fair Housing Advisory Board; and\nThe adoption of an ordinance renaming the Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities (MCPD) to the Raleigh Commission for Persons with Disabilities\, aligning the board’s appointment\, term\, and removal process with other advisory boards and commissions.\n\n\n .\nOutstanding items for the consideration of the Special Committee include:\n\n\nDirection on the potential reorganized composition of the Human Relations Commission\, Hispanic & Immigrant Affairs Board\, Substance Use Advisory Board\, African American Affairs Board*\, Raleigh Transit Authority\, and the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission\nConsideration of a name change for the Raleigh Transit Authority\nDirection on next steps for the Community Engagement Board\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nC.\n\nADJOURNMENT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaterials from past meetings (agendas\, presentations\, and minutes) are available on our website. \nVisit the City Council web page.

DESCRIPTION:The City is seeking input from residents about priorities for the next City budget. The Budget and Management Services Department (BMS) will host listening sessions between October 1 and 16\, and a budget priorities survey will be available between October 1 and November 30. Resident input is critical in creating a representative City budget. \nThere will be six opportunities for in-person engagement\, in addition to a virtual session. \nVirtual Session\nThe virtual listening session will be held via Zoom. Residents who choose the virtual session must pre-register and will receive the Zoom link the day before the session. \nWednesday\, October 15\, 6-7:30 p.m. \nIn-Person Sessions\nIn person sessions will kick off on October 1 and run through October 16.
