SUMMARY:Sertoma Public Art - Scratch Block Workshop 1
DESCRIPTION:Join artist\, Jim Gallucci\, for a scratch block workshop at Sertoma Arts Center. Participants will carve their own design into a sand mold that will be cast with molten iron during an iron pour event later this year. Jim will incorporate the completed iron blocks into his design for new art that will be a part of the Sertoma expansion. All materials will be provided. DESCRIPTION:There’s been a slight change in our program on Monday May 12th.  Due to the rain.  We will now do the signage reveal at the corner of Tarboro Road and Boyer Street.at 5:30.\n\nThen the celebration will be at Tarboro Road Community Center 121 N.Tarboro Road at 6Pm.\nCollege Park Neighborhood Sign Celebration \nMonday\, May 12\, 2025 \nWhere: Hill Street will be blocked from 5pm until 7:30pm \nThe street will be blocked from the dumpster at Churches Chicken to the corner of East Jones Street We are celebrating the new signage “Welcome to College Park “.   It took our neighborhood 20 years to get these signs. \n\nWe will also be celebrating the White’s Family for living on Hill Street for 100 years.\nWe will have a celebrate with free grilled foods\, bounce house for children\, homemade cakes and much more.\n\nPlease email octavia_rainey@yahoo.com \nWe are also having a sign unveiling on the corner of New Bern Ave and Saint Augustine’s Ave. \n\nThe sign is located in front of the library: from 5.30pm until 6pm

SUMMARY:Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us Monday night\, May 12th at 7 PM for our regularly scheduled Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Meeting. This will be a virtual meeting using Zoom. \n\nGreetings to Friends and Neighbors\nCity of Raleigh Inspections Report – Inspector David Johnson. David Johnson may tell us what is changing this season with property upkeep and leaf collections.\nCity of Raleigh Monthly Report and Update – Captain Manson (SW-Southwest). Captain Notch (SE-Southeast)\, Captain Van Antwerp (DT-Downtown). Our SW area is now part of three Raleigh Police Districts.\nCarolina Pines Ave Improvement Project – Raleigh City Council recently provided final approval for the Street and sidewalk project that will extend from Lake Wheeler Rd. to South Saunders St. After several years we are close to a Contractor and Construction schedule meeting. This is going to be a complex project.\nRaleigh Golf Association (RGA) – Land Sale and Rezoning – RGA property north of Tryon Rd. is in the process of being sold. There is a rezoning case that will allow “Affordable 60% AMI” apartments being built there. The number of units planned is currently about 370. Representatives from the developer are scheduled to give us some views of what they are planning.\nGipson Play Plaza Opening This Spring at Dix Park – Gipson Play Plaza is going to be opening in early June. Bringing all of the plans together for the opening is complicated due to the anticipated popularity of the Play Plaza. We should know more about specific dates and access for close neighbors soon.\nCommunity Safety – We all need to discuss any ideas about how we can make our neighborhoods safer. Incidents occur. How we come together matters a lot.\n\nComments and updates from our community leaders and residents. \nFor June 9th we will be back to our in person Ice Cream Social. My treat.
